About MacGen

This is a newly formed group with interest in both the Macintosh computer platform and genealogy. It will concentrate on the Macintosh computer as a tool used in Genealogy. It will also concentrate on the Reunion genealogy lineage program used specifically on the Mac (and the iTouch/iPhone).

Our first meeting was on April 25, 2009 at the Oakland LDS Regional Family History Center Conference Room. Topics are fairly narrow, in that we are interested only in Genealogy on the Macintosh computing platform. Most members belong to local genealogy societies and/or Macintosh computer user groups. We think there is enough interest in this subject matter to support our separate group discussing and learning the Mac and Genealogy topics together. We do recommend membership in genealogy and computer user groups to provide additional support.

The group held monthly meetings most months of 2009, and we are now starting 2010. We meet with a General Meeting on the fourth Saturday of the month and hold an informal workshop on the 2nd Wednesday of the month. Organizing the group are three volunteers, Ed Mason, Rich Peterson and Bill George. All three have had many years of experience running computer and/or genealogy support groups.
